![]() ![]() BURRROKKK! Luckily they make up for these bland enemies with some of the best level design seen in a modern day platformer. Yes I remember not being overly impressed with this new enemy type, one of my favourite things from the old series where those dastardly Kremlins and that satisfying noise it made when you jumped on them. Indeed, and just like every Mario game is about the Princess being kidnapped, every DK game has to be about his precious banana horde being stolen only this time it's due to a bunch of haunted tiki masks hypnotising the jungle's inhabitants. It's all very similar to the Mario series. And in typical Nintendo fashion, there's not really much of a narrative to follow, it's just fun characters, bright levels and tight gameplay. The game's story can be played solo or with a second player, but they'll need their own 3DS and copy of the game. If you played the original Wii version, or any of the older Super Nintendo titles for that matter, then you'll know that the Donkey Kong Country series is all about frantic 2D platforming as you navigate Donkey and his trusty chimp sidekick Diddy through the islands uniquely themed levels.Īs you progress across the island's 8 main worlds, you'll go about the usual jungle hijinks, collecting bananas for lives, KONG letters, puzzle pieces for unlocks as well as banana coins to spend on special items that can be equipped before starting each level. again! With this port of the 2010 Wii hit "Donkey Kong: Country Returns" now conveniently packed into a handheld with that all important extra third dimension! Now it's time to barrel blast our way back to the lush jungles of Donkey Kong Island on the 3DS.
